When in New York….you’ve got to
try out all the different foods on offer! With so much to choose from we tried
to make sure we savoured all the ‘top’ American eats across our trip.
Shake Shack
Our first night we decided we had
to have a Shake Shack Burger from the original shack in Madison Square Park. A
great tasting burger with a view of the Empire State, who could ask for more!
HUGE wraps
HUGE wraps
After a morning visit to the Metropolitan Museum we were ready to re-fuel
with some lunch. Having struggling to find somewhere to pick up a picnic for
Central Park we stumbled upon a little Deli (Neofytos Deli Inc) selling the hugest sandwiches, paninis and
wraps you could imagine.
Cheetos
Basically giant Wotsits! We couldn’t resist a Cheetos Challenge…

Muffins
With a huge city to explore most days we grabbed breakfast on the go. Our nearest supermarket was Wholefoods (a heavenly supermarket!) which had the most amazing array of pastries and muffins to select from…my lemon and blueberry was a perfect kick-starter before taking on the Metropolitan Museum of Art!

Bagel and Schmere
These you could buy everywhere!
But Chris surprised me one morning in our apartment as he’d popped to
Wholefoods and brought back a bag of
bagels, cream cheese and a type of smoked salmon that was to die for! Thickly
cut and a deep rich pink (almost red in colour) this was the best Bagel and
Schmere I’ve ever had.
American Pizza
As big Italian pizza lovers we
had to try the American version, and for this we headed to a well rated place
in Williamsburg (Motorino’s).
Sitting down we discovered their lunchtime offer – Pizza and Salad for $12! But
the most interesting bit of all was the toppings on the menu – I went for a
Brussel Sprout, Smoked Pancetta and Pecorino pizza – it was surprisingly
delicious!
Pretzels
On every street corner you’ll see
a hot ‘daug’ and pretzel stand and I finally got my pretzel on our penultimate
day in New York from the sidewalk of Fifth Avenue having just popped into Tiffney’s
(I’m a cheap date!). It definitely filled a hole whilst window-shopping down
the greatest shopping street in NYC.
Waffles and Fried Chicken
Having not tried Waffles yet, we spotted them on
the ‘light bites’ menu at Bar Sixty Five (top of the Rockefeller Centre) only
they were served with fried chicken bites and drizzled in a honey and mustard
dressing – a very tasty combination and perfect accompaniment to watching the
come down over Manhattan.
