Sydney in 48 hours

Who needs a sightseeing tour bus when you have cousins that live in Sydney! With 48 hours in this iconic city, we managed to cram in all the major sights in 33 degree heat thanks to our excellent tour guides 'Chris & Alice Ltd' (I highly recommend them!)

Sight's of Sydney

We began our tour as soon as we'd been picked up from the airport (what service!), where our first sight of the iconic harbour bridge was on our way to their beachside apartment in Manly.

After enjoying a true Auzzy BBQ and some beers on the balcony overlooking the beach we headed to bed so that we'd get a good-nights sleep (the amazing mattress definitely helped!).

Fresh faced we were up and out by 8am for our delicious breakfast of Omlette/Pancakes which set us up for our day of crazy sightseeing on foot! Our tour guides took us to see all the top sites...

  • Sydney Opera House

  • Parliament Buildings (aka The Horse Prisons!)

  • Harbour Bridge

  • The Botanical Gardens
(sadly we couldn't find the tree of bats but Alice did swear it existed!)

  • The Cathedral (with giant nativity scene!)

  • Darling Harbour (and its rows of giant Ho Ho Ho santas!)

  • The Rocks

  • ...and even Alice's work!
After a quick refresh we headed into buzzing Manly for drinks and dinner and we quickly understood why they'd been out here so long!

Finally we couldn't leave without giving surfing a go on the infamous Manly Beach! Both Chris and I managed to get up onto our knees and both of us had quite a few more spectacular fails! We'll just have to come back again and give it another go when the waves are less messy!
